Profile

Shaher Zahran was born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 1954, and educated at King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals (B. S. in Civil Engineering) and North Carolina State University (MS and PhD. in Transportation Engineering). Dr. Zahran is currently associate professor of Civil Engineering at King Abdulaziz University and was appointed as a the chairmen of the department from 2005-2007. Beside his academic duties, he involved in many academic and administrative committees. In Addition, he conducted and reviewed may research in his field of specialty. He was awarded King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) Distinguished Research Award, 2002 -1999 and (KACST) Distinguished Reviewer Award in 2004 and 2007.

Research Interests

Dr. Zahran Research focus on the subjects related to highway design construction and maintenance. This includes Highway Design;  pavement design, behavior and management; asphalt technology; paving materials; and  recycled materials.
